Protecting your family

Whilst infrequent, emergencies can happen anywhere at any time. If you are involved in an emergency or witness to it, dial 999 and alert the Police, Fire, Ambulance or Coastguard Services. This website provides lots of information on the risks you may face and how to prepare for emergencies.

What Can I Do?

Prepare but don't panic!  Emergencies are unlikely but they can happen, and with a few small steps you can prepare for the unexpected. You should try to be prepared for these types of things to have an impact on you & your family: -

  • Power cuts, or disruption to gas or water supplies
  • Flooding at home, on the roads or at your place of business
  • Severe weather, storms, high winds or snow & ice
  • Loss of telephone or internet services
  • Evacuation from your home or business
  • Being confined indoors at home, at work or somewhere else for a period of time
  • Unplanned seperation from family members
  • Becoming stranded or severely delayed on a journey in your car or on public transport
